As the camera crews get there, trying to find a good spot to film in the crowd, the king and queen walk out. The crowd murmurs in a low, serious voice. The king's men had come out, yelling to gather around the Announcement Balcony and to spread the news to their neighbors. That was nine 'o' clock, and it was nearly ten.
The king cleared his throat and motioned for the crowd to quiet down.
"My dear people," He started, though his voice was strained, "I've gathered you here today to tell you some grave news -" He was stopped by a couple of coughs, " - about a possible epidemic. As you know, we've sent linguists to the Shaman Strait to try to teach the Indians our language." He was stopped yet again by the ever-louder coughs.
"I received a letter yesterday from the head linguist there, he has told me that the Indians have a disease which they are used to, but to us it is rather..." He paused for a moment, trying to think of the word. "Malignant. However, that does not mean we need to panic. The symptoms are coughing, sneezing -" He started coughing again, this time he was almost double over. The coughing was horrendous, loud and racking. The queen rushed to his side immediately, as the camera crew quickly turned off the cameras.
The crowd, however, was in turmoil.
